St. Louis police are searching for the driver of a black Honda Civic that allegedly tried to run down a mounted police officer on Memorial Day.

Police said the suspects in the car were approaching pedestrians, asking them for money. The mounted police officer asked the driver to pull over, but he sped away and nearly struck the officer and her horse.

The police officer gave chase on horseback, and took one of the two passengers into custody when she jumped out of the car. The driver, who had a gold tooth, got away.

When caught, he faces multiple charges including assault of a police officer.
