A Rockwood High School student is riding a horse to and from school to save gas money.

Bradley Walker, a senior, estimates he saves $25 a week by riding Pumpkin for 45 minutes instead of making the 10-minute drive.

"Nobody should have to pay what they say is going to be $5 a gallon for gas," he said. "I don't think anybody should have to pay that."

Pumpkin stays in a makeshift stall behind the school.

Other students may copy his action, so they are looking for space near the school to keep the horses.

The only problem is the legality of emissions. Horse droppings are considered litter.

"But if you go back and clean it up, it's ok," Walker said.
