A Canadian is recuperating after having his hand severed in an altercation outside a house party, the Hamilton (Ontario) Spectator reports.
The hand of the unidentified 23-year-old was hacked off Saturday outside the bash, Hamilton Police Sgt. Paul Lahaie told the paper.
"The situation escalated, there was a lot of yelling and screaming and someone in the crowd brandished a sharp-edged weapon that was used to sever the man's hand," Lahaie told the Spectator.
The hand was recovered in the driveway, and it was reattached to the victim at Hamilton General Hospital, the paper said.
Police have not identified a suspect but they did recover a "sharp-edged weapon" at the scene, the Spectator reports.
