WEBSTER, Mass. – Police say three young children who had been left home alone were rescued after their Webster apartment caught fire.
The mother of the children, 28-year-old Christina Page, was later arrested and faced arraignment Monday in Dudley District Court.
Police said Page apparently left her 3-year-old son and 2-month-old twins home alone for at least an hour Saturday while she went to the store. While Page was out, food left cooking on the stove caught fire in the first-floor apartment.
A woman who lives upstairs noticed the smoke and called 911. Several police officers rushed into the apartment and rescued the children, along with the family dog.
The children were treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation and were expected to be turned over to the custody of the Department of Social Services.Click here for more on this story from MyFOXBoston.com.
