MIAMI – A man jumped off a platform at the Miami Metrorail transit system in front of an oncoming train Thursday and was pinned under a train car, authorities said. The man was rescued and taken to a hospital.
His condition was not immediately known. Miami-Dade County Transit spokesman Manny Palmeiro said the man was apparently traveling alone.
The train stopped in its tracks at a station in Coral Gables, a wealthy Miami suburb. With the transit system shut down, buses were taking commuters to another station.
The elevated, one-line system connects points throughout the metropolitan Miami area.
