Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai says government accusations that he is guilty of treason are "outrageous."

The opposition leader denied in an interview with The Associated Press that his party is plotting to overthrow longtime President Robert Mugabe. He says the Movement for Democratic Change was formed with a commitment to "democratic change" in Zimbabwe.

Mugabe's government on Thursday accused Tsvangirai of seeking an "illegal regime change" — with Britain's help.
