JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are looking for a registered sex offender who escaped from the downtown county jail.
Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Royce Glenn was part of a work crew painting at the Duval County pretrial detention facility when he apparently climbed over a metal fence and escaped. He had been working as a trusty.
Glenn was awaiting trial on charges of operating a chop shop, grand theft and burglary.
State and court records show Glenn served a year behind bars in 1999 for a lewd act on a child. He failed to comply with sex offender registration guidelines in 2005, went to prison and was released in October 2006.
Glenn is white, with blond hair and blue eyes. He's about 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and has many tattoos.
