An 11-month-old baby is now the youngest patient in India to successfully undergo a complete liver transplant; it is being reported by the Times of India.

Chennai Siddharth received a portion of his aunt’s liver, according to the newspaper.

He was born with a rare condition called biliary atresia, in which the common bile duct between the liver and small intestine is either blocked or absent and the body rapidly develops cirrhosis.

The operation was conducted at New Delhi’s Sir Gangaram Hospital.
