PEKIN, Ill. – A judge in central Illinois is slated to sentence a 39-year-old woman who's been convicted of killing her 3-year-old autistic daughter.
Karen McCarron faces up to 100 years in prison when she comes before a judge for a morning sentencing hearing in Pekin.
McCarron is from Morton, just outside Peoria. She was found guilty in January of first-degree murder for suffocating Katie McCarron in 2006.
Karen McCarron told police in a videotaped confession that she could no longer deal with the difficulties created by her daughter's illness.
McCarron pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
