FREMONT, Calif. – Police have shut down a section of south Fremont after man who reportedly raped a woman barricaded himself inside a condominium complex.
A woman called police around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to report that she was raped by a man inside a vacant condo at the Papyon Terrace complex, police said. The suspect, James Henderson, 40, reportedly is armed with a handgun.
Police don't believe Henderson has taken any hostages. They said he has an extensive criminal record and the alleged rape may have occurred during a date with a prostitute.
A SWAT team has locked down the complex and surrounded the building, located near Auto Mall Parkway.
