A man was found dead Wednesday in what appears to have been a suicide at a residential construction site on a lot owned by Mel Gibson, E! News reported.

The Lost Hills Sheriff's Department received a 911 call at 8:09 a.m. alerting authorities to a man hanging from the rafter of a house on Sierra Creek Road in Agoura Hills, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told FOXNews.com.

But Whitmore told FOXNews.com that they cannot confirm that the incident happened on Gibson's property.

A source close to Gibson told E! News that the "Braveheart" star has never lived on the property, where construction of a residential compound has been under way for some time.
