An angry Dorchester, Mass., father is in trouble with police after allegedly storming West Roxbury High School with relatives last week to confront a 15-year-old student who fought his son, boston.com reports.
Edwin Reyes, 39, is accused of punching the student and driving a car into a school police officer who tried to stop him as he left. Reyes pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday, and was ordered held on $1,000 cash bail, boston.com reports.
"We clearly have to move forward very quickly," School Department spokesman Jonathan Palumbo told boston.com about plans to increase the school’s security. "The accused is the father of a student. Generally we do allow access to our schools by our parents and encourage them to visit."
Reyes's son told his family that he had been jumped by another student earlier this year.
When Reyes, his two brothers, his son and an unidentified woman tried to leave in a Honda sedan, a school officer tried to stop them by standing in front of the car, but Reyes stepped on the gas, boston.com reports. The officer fell onto the hood before rolling off, and was not seriously injured.
