The funniest thing I've seen on HBO this February has to be their selection of movies commemorating Black History Month. In an attempt to celebrate African-American culture, they show that the network is whiter than tofu.
The month is almost over, but you can still catch the nature documentary, "Snakes on a Plane" or "The Shawshank Redemption," a romantic comedy set in prison.
Now, what being in jail or trapped in a plane with snakes has to do with being black, I haven't a clue. And the last time I checked, Tim Robbins was Samoan.
Worse, HBO also aired "The Wiz," which is weird since its star, Michael Jackson, isn't even black — though he was considerably blacker then.
And in between "Sex and the City" reruns, they aired "The Last King of Scotland," featuring a black man as a homicidal dictator who may have eaten his enemies. As someone who engages in cannibalism from time to time, I reject the film's small minded and frankly judgmental approach to what some consider to be a healthy diet. It's better than Atkins, but without the bad breath.
What I'm saying is I just don't get their choices, but then I didn't get it when Miranda chose to move to Brooklyn with Steve.
And, yes I am married — to a woman.
And, if you don't believe me, then you sir are worse than Hitler.
