Three people have been found dead after a fire in a house in Old Orchard Beach.

State Police spokesman Steve McCausland says the deaths have been classified as suspicious.

He said the bodies were found after the fire was reported in a Cape Cod style home on Birkdale Circle at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The tourist town is a short drive from Maine's largest city, Portland.

The bodies are being taken to Augusta for autopsy by the state medical examiner's office.

No further details have been released on the victims.

The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes and no other injuries were reported.
