Police in Providence, Rhode Island, are scaling back their efforts to find a missing college couple who vanished after having a Valentine’s Day dinner on Thursday, according to a report from MyFOXProvidence.com
Amy Scott and Daniel Querzoli have been missing since Thursday when the pair borrowed a friend's car to go somewhere.
Scott is a student at Johnson and Wales University and Querzoli attends Bridgewater State College.
"I (think) there is something really bad involved in all this," Querzoli's father, Brian Warren, told FOX News. "If it all added up someone would have made better contact."
Providence police told The MetroWest Daily News that Querzoli had filed a police report the same day they vanished saying he went to his girlfriend's apartment to confront her about her alleged cocaine use and she pushed him.
Warren told FOX News his son never mentioned the alleged cocaine use, or the argument, adding he was around Amy many times and never saw any indications of it.
The couple, who have been dating since last fall, left without taking their wallets, ID or cell phones.
Amy's roommates say the couple had a minor spat a day before they left, but nothing seemed wrong when they returned from dinner.
Investigators say Scott called a friend Sunday, saying she that was ok. The call was traced to Illinois.
The 2004 Honda Civic they borrowed had a Johnson and Wales University decal on the back, and was low on gas. The car's New Jersey license plate reads RUF20X.
