An 8-year-old Canadian girl died suddenly last week shortly after becoming ill, it is reported by CBC News.

Kyla Ootova of Iqaluit, the capital city of Nunavut in Canada, left classes last Thursday at Nakasuk School, where she was enrolled in the third grade, because she was ill. She died two days later, it is reported.

Christa Kunuk, the school's community counselor, told CBC News that the school is offering grief counseling to its 280 students.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of the girl's death, according to the report.
