The 92-year-old sister of legendary heavyweight boxer Joe Louis has been found dead in the snow outside her apartment at an assisted-living facility, authorities said.

Southfield Fire Battalion Chief Barry Savickas told The Detroit News that the body of Vunies High, who had Alzheimer's disease, was found Monday on the snowy, ice-encrusted lawn outside The Heatherwood retirement complex in Southfield. Temperatures were freezing, officials said.

A person who answered the phone Wednesday at the suburban Detroit complex said no one could immediately comment.

Police say the woman was last seen Sunday. She was dressed only in pajamas and was wearing only one shoe.

An autopsy shows High died of hypothermia.

High spent 25 years as a teacher and counselor for Detroit Public Schools.
