CHICAGO – Move over Jenny Craig, there is going to be a new name in the weight-loss business - Kirstie Alley.
The former 'Cheers' star told People magazine in a statement she will be developing her own weight-loss brand expected to launch in 2009, according to their Web site.
Alley, who reportedly lost and kept off 75 pounds during her time as the Jenny Craig spokesmodel, stepped down from her role with the company last week.
"I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride," she told People in a statement.
Scott Parker, the vice president of marketing for Jenny Craig, told People the company wishes "her all the best in her future endeavors."
