Nine children, some as young as 3, were injured Tuesday in a crash involving a school bus and a car. Three adults were also hurt.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. at an intersection in Chino, authorities said. It wasn't known how many students were aboard the bus chartered by a local Head Start program, but nine were hurt along with the three adults.

All of the injuries were minor, but the victims were taken to hospitals as a precaution, said Inspector Ryan Dacko of the Chino Valley Independent Fire District.

"We're talking bumps and bruises," Dacko said. "It doesn't sound too serious."

The collision caused the bus to veer off the street and hit a planter and several cars in a parking lot, Dacko said. All of the kids were in car seats at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
