Three people were reported shot Tuesday along U.S. Highway 165 in northeastern Louisiana. Police said a suspect, captured at a shopping mall in Monroe, had apparently been shooting at random with a shotgun.

Details on the injuries were not immediately available.

The first shooting happened late Tuesday morning in rural Caldwell Parish. A second shooting was reported farther north, near U.S. 165 in Ouachita Parish, authorities said. Within minutes a third shooting was reported along the highway in Monroe, according to the Web site of The (Monroe) News-Star.

Monroe Police Detective Quitman Holmes said police were told to look out for a white male in a brown or maroon SUV with a window shot out, a state trooper recognized the suspect vehicle and stopped the driver at the mall.
