LOS ANGELES – An arrest warrant for actor Daniel Baldwin was canceled Monday after he told a judge he missed a hearing in a drug case because he was working in Canada.
Baldwin's probation was reinstated by Superior Court Judge Nancy L. Newman after she accepted that he missed a progress report on his drug rehabilitation because he was stuck at a film shoot in Toronto.
Baldwin, 47, said that he told his probation officer he wasn't going to make it to the Dec. 7 court session but that the message apparently wasn't passed along.
Newman cautioned Baldwin to alert the court directly about absences.
Baldwin was arrested in April 2006 and charged with two misdemeanor counts of possession of a cocaine-ingesting device and being under the influence.
Baldwin is undergoing treatment in hopes of getting the two counts dismissed. Under California law, some drug offenders can have the charges dropped if they successfully complete rehab.
The actor's lawyer, Grant Hoagland, said Baldwin would complete his rehabilitation program this month. He is due back in court March 4 for a final progress report.
Baldwin has appeared in the television series "Homicide: Life on the Street" and the movie "Car 54, Where Are You?"
