Authorities are investigating footage of a group of mean-spirited straphangers surrounding a lone New York City subway rider and beating him, the New York Post reported Thursday.
The appalling video shows a group of black teens gathering around a white or Hispanic man and subjecting him to a barrage of insults before throwing punches, the Post reported. The clip later made its way to YouTube.com on Nov. 7.

Police are questioning the authenticity of the video, suspecting it may have been staged, the Post reported.
The clip is believed to have been shot by amateur filmmaker Kadejra Holmes, whose parents told the Post she did not know the assailants and shot the incident as she was innocently riding the train.
