KEENE, N.H. – The Attorney General's office has ordered a City Council candidate to stop promising she'll give her salary to random voters if elected.
Now, Julia Miranda says if elected, she will give 16 $500 checks to nonprofits.
Miranda is a member of the Free State Project, a group encouraging libertarian-minded people to move to New Hampshire. She had been promising to give her checks to randomly selected voters.
The Attorney General's office said Miranda's offer amounted to a bribe and ordered her to stop.
Her campaign manager and partner, Ian Bernard, said Miranda's offer was no different than tax breaks offered by other candidates.
