CORAOPOLIS, Pa. – Pro wrestler Kurt Angle was charged with drunken driving and careless driving when he drove home from a bar near his home in the Pittsburgh suburbs last week, police said.
Angle was charged Friday after a motorist called police in Moon Township about 2 p.m. to report a Cadillac Escalade was driving erratically, according to a police news release.
Police used the license number to determine the vehicle belonged to Angle and went to his home, where police said the wrestler acknowledged driving home from a bar.
Angle appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test before refusing a blood test, police said.
Angle, 38, won a gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics before becoming a local television sportscaster and then a pro wrestler.
It was not immediately clear if Angle had an attorney. His home telephone number was unlisted.
