Target, Toymaker RC2, and Jo-Ann stores are all recalling toys that may contrain high levels of lead.
Target Corp
Target Corp (TGT) is voluntarily recalling 350,000 units of children's toy gardening tools and chairs made in China because the surface paint contained excessive amounts of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Wednesday.
The recall includes Happy Giddy Gardening Tools and Sunny Patch Children's Chairs sold at Target stores across the United States from August 2006 through August 2007, at prices between $3 and $10, according to the CPSC.
RC2 Corp
Toymaker RC2 Corp (RCRC) said it is voluntarily recalling five Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway items due to likely hazardous levels of lead in surface paint.
This recall affects up to 200,000 units in the United States and an additional 69,000 units distributed outside the U.S., the company said in a statement. RC2 had in June said it will recall specific wooden railway vehicles and set components from the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway product line due to lead poisoning hazard.
Jo-Ann Stores Inc
Jo-Ann Stores Inc (JAS) is recalling 16,000 toy rakes because the paint may contain excessive levels of lead paint, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Wednesday.
The rakes were made in China.
The safety agency said the recalled rake has a yellow duck head attached to the handle and was sold at Jo-Ann stores nationwide from January to September of this year. Consumers should return the rake to any Jo-Ann stores for a full refund, the agency said.
