A military jury in Kentucky is expected to begin deliberating today in the case of a soldier accused of conspiring to rape and kill an Iraqi girl and her family.

Prosecutors have rested their case against 22-year-old Jesse Spielman after calling only four witnesses. They presented little evidence from the assault, beyond soldiers' statements, crime scene photographs and videos of the path soldiers followed in the assault.

Defense attorneys say they plan to call only a handful of witnesses to testify today.

Spielman is charged with rape and murder in last year's assault on a 14-year-old girl and her family in a village about 20 miles south of Baghdad.

He pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
