Federal Heights, Colo., Mayor Dale Sparks’ second occupation has landed him with criminal charges.

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Sparks, who has been mayor of the city since 1999, was a doorman at nightclub Bare Essence for just over a year. He is now charged with complicity in a criminal enterprise and violations of the city's adult entertainment code.

Investigators in the case testified Tuesday that fully nude lap dancers performed within view of Sparks, which violates city laws banning lap dances and a minimum distance of three feet between dancers and customers.

The Rocky Mountain News reported that a prosecutor in the case argued Sparks, as a doorman, should have noticed dancers performing lap dances on patrons at the far end of the club.

A video obtained in the case showed patrons receiving dances from nude dancers as well as Sparks walking past the bar.

The defense argued the mayor could not have seen the rear of the club on a full night because it was more than 100 feet away and Sparks suffers from debilitating hip injuries and is nearly immobile.
