A wait list has formed for guests who want to attend a fundraiser hosted by Oprah Winfrey for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama at her Santa Barbara, Calif., estate.

The event sold out so quickly that the Illinois senator's own finance team had been limited to seven tickets each for the $2,300-per-person event on Sept. 8, according to The Chicago Sun-Times.

On the same day as Winfrey's reception, Nancy Koppelman, a Democratic and human rights activist, will host an accompanying lunch for about 100 donors. Obama has two other fundraising events in Los Angeles a month earlier, scheduled to coincide with the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender debate sponsored by MTV Network's Logo channel and the Human Rights Campaign.
