DETROIT – Eastern Michigan University's former president claimed his former vice president of student affairs deliberately covered up the dorm room rape and killing of a student that led to both their ousters.
John Fallon said he felt betrayed by former Vice President for Student Affairs Jim Vick, who told him that student Laura Dickinson's body was found in her dorm room Dec. 15 and that she was naked from the waist down with no evident signs of foul play.

The day after her body was found, Eastern Michigan issued a statement stating that foul play was not suspected. It was not until another Eastern student was arrested in late February and charged with murder that her family and fellow students learned she had been raped and killed.
"I want to clear my name," Fallon said while appearing Monday on CNN's "Larry King Live." "I am not a liar."
The subsequent controversy led to Fallon's dismissal and the forced retirements of Vick and Public Safety Director Cindy Hall. King said Vick and Hall did not respond to invitations to appear on the show.
Vick previously said he relied too heavily on Hall's judgment. Hall has never spoken publicly about her role in the case.
Fallon cited a shredded incident report as evidence that Dickinson's death was deliberately covered up, but did not disclose the names of those he believes were involved.
Fallon acknowledged Monday night that the incident could have been handled better, but said he felt betrayed by the Eastern Michigan Board of Regents as well as Vick. He said he welcomes the opportunity to clear his name.
"And I want to go to work," he said. "We have a lot of work yet to do — just not sure where."
