College courses on prostitution could be the next addition to New Zealand's educational institutions.
Funding for courses on the age-old profession may be considered if the courses are deemed to have the necessary quality and relevance to the educational field, according to education officials.
Any request to provide courses on prostitution would be examined under the same criteria for any other college course Tertiary Education Commission chief executive Janice Shiner said.
Lawmakers in New Zealand's parliament were told of the development during hearings into changes to how higher education was funded.
