PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Two people were killed Tuesday when a small helicopter crashed and caught fire on the beach in this north Florida community, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
FHP Lt. Steve Harris said officials were still trying to determine who was aboard and said the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash.
Witnesses heard the aircraft engine sputter before it nosed into the beach in St. Johns County, Harris said.
