An 88-year-old woman was in stable condition Monday after several gunmen ambushed her bedroom and shot her at least three times before fleeing, police said.

Police were searching the Orlando area after the perpetrators surrounded the Yuki Harris' bedroom and opened fire through a window at various angles at her home near Universal Studios' Orlando theme park.

“Witnesses advised that they heard the gunshots” and saw three people running away at 12:40 a.m., Cpl. Susan Soto of the Orlando Sheriff's Department told FOX News.

“We don’t believe that she’s the target," Soto said, but added, "they specifically went to the victim’s window.”

Investigators said the bedroom that was targeted belonged to the Harris, who was sleeping in it, said FOX affiliate WOFL reporter Patrick Pegues. Her 50-year-old daughter also was asleep in the house, he said.

"At this point, we don't believe it to be random," Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Stonebreaker told Local 6 News. "We don't believe it to be a drive-by. There is a specific reason why these people came to this location tonight."

Officers’ dogs detected a scent, which abruptly ended, leading police to believe there was a getaway vehicle, Pegues said.

Harris' medical alert bracelet also notified the fire department about the incident, Local 6 reported.

Authorities said other children stay with her at times. She was in stable condition at Orlando Regional Hospital on Monday morning.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS. A motive for the shooting was unknown.
