The Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested a suspect believed to be the man who was caught on surveillance footage spilling mercury in a Los Angeles subway station before Christmas, FBI sources tell FOX News.

The man, identified as Armando Bustamante Miranda, 27, is being held on unrelated charges and is being questioned. An official statement with additional details will be released as soon as possible.

A video of an incident that occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2006, was obtained by the JTTF in Los Angeles. The video depicts a young male who appears to spill a vial of liquid onto the subway platform after entering the Pershing Square subway station.

Members of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Hazardous Materials team who responded to the incident confirmed that the liquid substance was a small quantity of mercury. The man used the MTA call box to report the spill. The JTTF released the video to the public last week in order to identify the man, as well as witnesses to the incident.
