Dear Friends of "FOX & Friends,"
On this Thursday, I'm thankful that so many of you have taken me up on my offer and are sending in your own secrets to a happy marriage! At the end of this blog, you can see how to submit your story.
The goal of The Daily Doocy is to feature some of the hundreds of submissions from viewers who shared with me their personal secrets to a happy marriage. This is in conjunction with the upcoming publication of my book, "The Mr. and Mrs. Happy Handbook," which is a funny owner's manual for families. The book arrives in bookstores October 17, but you can pre-order it wherever you buy books, or get an autographed copy at www.happyhandbook.com.
My book is about the funny parts of married life, after all if you're not laughing, you might be crying. But you're not writing funny books — that's my job. Your job is to spill the beans on real life secrets to a happy marriage. And here are five great stories, from five great families:

The secret to our happy marriage (after two divorces each) is my husband's motto, "I only have one rule, that YOU make all the rules."

The secret to our Happy Marriage is: Being given time to sulk after an argument.
Yes, it's true, my husband is the greatest person in the world, but like all married people from time to time we have disputes. It's inevitable. Of course he is certain he is right, and, as a woman, I know that I am right. In any case, after an argument we're both hard-heads and resort to sulking.
I have discovered though that with a family, meals, chores, events etc. it's not helpful to fume for too terribly long. So we give each other an allotted period of time to sulk, slam doors (gotta punctuate you're mad, right?!) and work it all out of our system. Depending on how bad the dispute was, the other gets to determine how long the offended gets to pout. I might tell my husband that due to schedules we have, he only has two hours to sulk. So for two hours he gets to stare at me with piercing looks and furrowed eyebrows.
One time I asked, "Are you done yet because we have to be at this dinner in about 2 hours. Are you still mad?" He popped a slight smile because it really is ridiculous, right? And he responded, "No, I need another 45 minutes to be angry." After that, he got dressed, gave me a kiss and all was well with the world.

The secret to a happy marriage is communication. My husband and I have been married 27 years. We had been married about five or six years (and I'd had three sons during that time). We were in our bedroom, talking about my weight gain. He then said very quietly, "Your butt is getting a little bigger."
I looked at him with my mouth wide open, and I actually saw his pupils dilate in raw fear! He's never, ever said anything like that to me again.

Steve,
The secret to our happy marriage is that I do all my husband's heavy work such as, build bookshelves for his books, build the back porch decking, lay ceramic tile, in two large rooms, lay laminate flooring, do all the plumbing, some electrical work etc.; and in turn he brings me coffee in bed every morning with a bran muffin to watch you guys on "FOX & Friends." I swear this is the truth. I laid the ceramic tile just two months ago and I will be 65 years old Dec. 9.

The secret to our happy marriage is that everyday I speak these 12 words to my wife of 43 years. They are in groups of three words. They are:
• I was wrong
• I am sorry
• Please forgive me
• I love you
That has kept the sparks flying in our household. We have three grown children and eight beautiful grandchildren.
Thanks Steve, I watch you guys everyday before going to work. Love your show.
Yours truly,
Pastor Roy Pitre
