President Bush will address the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday to promote his freedom and democracy agenda, and cite Iran as one of the worst examples of Islamic extremism.

• The General Assembly is the main deliberative organ of the United Nations
• Composed of representatives of all 192 member states
• Each member state has one seat in the General Assembly and one vote

• Discusses any question relating to international peace and security
• Considers and approves the United Nations budget
• Establishes the financial assessments of Member States
• Elects non-permanent members of Security Council and members of other UN councils

• June 2006: Haya Rashed Al-Khalifa elected President of 61st General Assembly session
