"Good job."
How often do you hear those two words? If never, it could mean one of two things:
(a) You're not doing a good job, or
(b) You are, but no one cares to mention it.
It's like those stories of parents with the kid who comes home with straight "As" and one "B," and the dad focuses on the one "B." My mom and dad were just grateful if I continued advancing in school!
But that's not my point. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is.
We kill the guy — good news. But from Democrats there's barely a good word, if any word at all, for the president. I think Nancy Pelosi more or less said: well, it's about time.
Never mind they never spared criticism of the war, or magnified every little thing going wrong with the war. But would it have killed anyone to simply say, "Good job, Mr. President. You nabbed a bad guy."
Would it have killed the advocates of pulling out of Iraq to say that had we done so earlier, we would have never gotten Zarqawi?
Of course not.
Republicans were just as guilty of this behavior during the Clinton years: Few tipping their hat to the president for presiding over a pretty good economy.
The way I see it, we all make mistakes and this president, like the one before him, has had some doozies. But now and then, they do something right — like killing a guy who loved to kill us. That's pretty good, because he was pretty bad.
I just think it's pretty sad, when those who want to carp are so emotionally constipated, that they can't get out of the way of their own verbal crap.
