The date 06/06/06 didn't scare people away from attending a scary movie.

The remake of "The Omen" opened to the largest Tuesday opening in motion picture history. Twentieth Century Fox says the thriller took in $12.6 million. The movie company had planned the unusual Tuesday opening to capitalize on yesterday's date. That sequence of numbers is tied to Satan, as is the boy at the center of the movie.

A Tuesday movie opening is unusual, but not rare.

"Independence Day" is next on the Tuesday earnings list, even though its Tuesday opening in 1996 was a preview day. And "Ali" opened on a Tuesday in 2001, taking in more than $10 million.
