I met a woman on an airplane the other day who told me the story of her 3-year-old daughter who was sexually abused by this woman's boyfriend. You can only imagine the shock, grief and anger this woman felt when her daughter revealed the actions of this man. She immediately went to the authorities to take action. The process has been excruciatingly slow.

She believes that justice will ultimately be done, but this torturous road has not only compounded her pain but threatens to make an indelible impression on her 3-year-old little girl.

Judges, prosecutors and all members of our legal system have a very serious responsibility to bring about swift and sure justice. We must not let legalisms, bureaucracy, caseload or local politics interfere with a speedy resolution for all parties involved.

In all cases where sexual abuse is involved, we must keep in mind that we are dealing with lives of young, innocent people who could be scarred forever.
