OAKLAND, Calif. – Police in California (search) are checking into a report of a possible child abduction on Halloween night.
Oakland (search) police say two trick-or-treaters reported seeing a child wearing a costume yanked off a bicycle and forced into a van. They are investigating the incident as a possible kidnapping.
The child was seen at about 7 p.m.dressed in a black cloak and white mask, similar to the killer in the movie "Scream (search)." A 16-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy reported the incident. Police later recovered the bicycle.
The officer said it's unclear whether the child was a boy or girl. But he said no one has been reported missing.
Police haven't ruled out a Halloween prank or an upset parent.
