Among the companies whose shares are expected to see active trade in Friday's session are Google Inc., AT&T Corp., Xerox Corp., Wyeth and SanDisk Corp.

Alltel Corp. (AT) is expected to report third-quarter earnings of 86 cents a share, according to analysts polled by Thomson First Call.

AT&T Corp.'s (T) third quarter is expected to show earnings of 51 cents a share.

Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) is seen posting a per-share profit of $1.06 in its third quarter.

Ecolab Inc. (ECL) is expected to report a profit of 40 cents a share in its third quarter.

Ericsson (ERICY) is seen posting earnings of 45 cents a share in its third quarter.

Radio Shack Corp.'s (RSH) third quarter is expected to show a profit of 37 cents a share.

Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB) is expected to report third-quarter earnings of 86 cents a share

Weyerhaeuser Co.'s (WY) third quarter is expected to show a per-share profit of 98 cents.

Wyeth (WYE) is seen posting a third-quarter profit of 76 cents a share.

Xerox Corp.'s (XRX) third quarter is expected to show a per-share profit of 18 cents.

After Thursday's closing bell, Google Inc. (GOOG) said third-quarter profit surged sevenfold and sales nearly doubled, exceeding Wall Street's expectations, as net revenue topped $1 billion for the first time.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS) said its quarterly profit came in little changed as it a number of charges that offset a 25% jump in revenue.

Armor Holdings Inc (AH) said its third-quarter earnings totaled $26.5 million, or 74 cents a share, up from $23.9 million, or 70 cents a share, last year. Excluding items, the company earned $1.05 a share. Revenue rose 74% to a record $447.7 million. Analysts expected a profit of 99 cents a share with revenue of $405 million, according to Thomson First Call.

Aviall Inc. (AVL) reported third-quarter earnings of $14.3 million, or 41 cents a share, up 43% from $10 million, or 31 cents a share, last year. Operating income totaled $25.5 million, Aviall said. The aviation services company's revenue rose 13% to $334 million. Analysts had forecast a profit of 44 cents a share with revenue of $380 million, according to Thomson First Call.

Broadcom Corp. (BRCM) reported that its profit tripled in the third quarter, as demand improved for its wireless chips used in computer accessories and other consumer-electronic devices.

California Micro Devices Corp. (CAMD) reported second-quarter net earnings of $2.03 million, or 9 cents a share, vs. $2.23 million, or 10 cents a share, during the same period a year ago. The Milpitas, Calif.-based company posted revenue of $18.5 million vs. $17.1 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had forecast second-quarter earnings of 6 cents a share on revenue of $17 million.

Capital One Financial Corp. (COF) said quarterly net income was essentially unchanged from the year-ago period, and warned hurricanes and bankruptcy filings may hit 2005 earnings.

Celestica Inc. (CLS) cut its third-quarter loss from a year ago, but still remained in the red amid lower sales due mostly to weakness in its communications and information technology markets.

Cree Inc. (CREE) reported fiscal first-quarter net earnings of $28.9 million, or 28 cents a share, vs. $34.9 million, or 32 cents a share, in the year-ago period. The Durham, N.C.-based semiconductor company posted revenue of $103.9 million vs. $95.9 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had forecast second-quarter net earnings of 23 cents a share on revenue of $103 million.

Dover Corp. (DOV) posted a third-quarter profit of $122.7 million, or 60 cents a share, up from $120.3 million, or 59 cents a share, a year ago. Earnings from continuing operations came in at $132.6 million, or 65 cents a share. The diversified industrial company reported sales of $1.56 billion, a 13% jump from a year earlier. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected a profit, on average, of 64 cents a share with revenue of $1.63 billion.

EMC Corp. (EMC) said it has agreed to acquire Captiva Software Corp. (CPTV) for $22.25 a share in cash, or $275 million, net of Captiva's cash balance. The deal is expected to close later this year or early next year. Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC said it expects to take a $15 million to $20 million charge for the value of Captiva's in-process research and development costs.

Fiserv Inc. (FISV) reported its third-quarter profit climbed 22% as total revenue increased, and it issued an upbeat outlook for the year as a whole.

Foundry Networks Inc. (FDRY) reported that it swung to a third-quarter profit as the networker sold more of its newer routers and switches and saw stronger demand from government customers.

Freescale Semiconductor Inc. (FSL) reported net income almost tripled as cost controls helped offset sluggish sales.

Genesis Microchip Inc. (GNSS) reported second fiscal quarter profits that rose more than 300% from the same period last year. Revenue for the period was $74.9 million compared to $50.1 million last year. Profits for the quarter came in at $9.3 million, or 25 cents a share, compared to a profit of $2.1 million, or 6 cents a share, for last year. Analysts were expecting a profit of 21 cents a share on revenue of $69.9 million, according to Thomson First Call.

Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) reported second fiscal quarter profits that rose from the same period last year. Revenue for the period was $227.3 million compared to $220.7 million last year. Profits for the quarter came in at $65.7 million, or 31 cents a share, compared to a profit of $60.4 million, or 29 cents a share, for last year. Analysts were expecting a profit of 30 cents a share on revenue of $227.6 million, according to consensus estimates from Thomson First Call.

On Semiconductor Corp. (ONNN) reported that its third-quarter net earnings rose 55.8% to $17.6 million, or 6 cents a share, from $11.3 million, or 4 cents a share, during the same period a year ago. The Phoenix-based semiconductor company posted revenue of $313.6 million vs. $318.4 million

SanDisk Corp. (SNDK) reported a third-quarter profit that nearly doubled on strong sales of its flash memory products.

Synaptics Inc. (SYNA) reported a first-quarter profit that grew 25% over a year ago, as the maker of touchpad technology for computers and other electronics saw sales rise due to strong demand for PC-based products.

Tempur-Pedic International Inc. (TPX) reported third-quarter net earnings of $17.4 million, or 17 cents a share, down 23% from $22.4 million, or 22 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Pro forma earnings were 24 cents a share. Revenue at the Lexington, Ky.-based mattress maker rose to $206.1 million from $181.7 million last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had estimated earnings at 22 cents a share on revenue of $204 million.

Xilinx Inc. (XLNX) reported that net income dipped slightly in the latest quarter amid softer shipments for chips that power networking gear and consumer electronics.
