A tanker truck loaded with jet fuel crashed and burned Wednesday on Interstate 5 (search), snarling traffic on the major north-south route in Tejon Pass (search) between Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley (search).

The truck driver suffered only a cut finger in the 10:30 a.m. crash, said Kern County fire Capt. Doug Johnston.

The blazing truck, which ignited a small grass fire on the northbound side of the Grapevine section of the interstate, was being allowed to burn itself out.

Traffic on the heavily traveled route was initially stopped in both directions about 50 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, but the southbound flow was allowed to resume at noon.
