A Chinese news report says an online gamer has been sentenced to death for killing a fellow player.

The report says the dispute started over the victim selling a virtual weapon from a fantasy game that didn't belong to him. The owner tried to report the theft to police but was told it wasn't real property protected by the law.

Prosecutors say the victim agreed to hand over the money he got from selling the "Dragon Saber," but the owner got impatient. The victim was later attacked at his home, with his attacker repeatedly stabbing him in the chest.

The sentence has been suspended for two years and the report says it could be reduced to 15 years in prison with good behavior.
