It's official: She's not that innocent.
Britney Spears (search), 23, is having her first baby with husband Kevin Federline (search), 27, she announced on her Web site Tuesday.
"The time has finally come to share the wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," the couple gushed in a posting on Spears' Web site. "There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I would just like everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Love, Britney & Kevin."
Spears' publicist, Sonia Muckle, confirmed the singer's pregnancy Tuesday but refused to provide additional details.
The child will be Spears' first and Federline's third. Federline, whose marriage to Spears was his first, has two children with his ex-girlfriend, "Moesha" actress Shar Jackson.
Spears and Federline met last year when he was a backup dancer on her tour — Jackson was pregnant with their son at the time. Jackson gave birth to her second child with Federline in July.
Spears has previously said she enjoyed being a stepmother, and was eager to have children of her own, telling People magazine last fall: "I want to be a young mom. I can see us as parents."
Magazines and tabloids have speculated for weeks that Spears was pregnant, documenting her expanding waistline and fuller figure, but she remained mum on the subject.
The couple has also been dodging rumors their marriage is in trouble. Last week, they defiantly announced they would star in a UPN reality show that would showcase their "personal love story," allowing their fans a peek at "what really happened" rather than what Spears described as the distortions of the press.
Spears declared war on celeb magazines not long after her Sept. 18 wedding — photos of which she gave to People magazine. She slammed Us Weekly for publishing pictures of the couple's honeymoon.
On March 30, as rumors of pregnancy and a rocky marriage built to a fever pitch, the pop star posted an invective on her Web site directed at celebrity rags.
"Do you, Us Weekly, In Touch, Star and other desperate magazines want employees who are honest, or those who are liars?" Spears wrote. She did not outright deny the pregnancy rumors.
Spears' love life has always captivated the entertainment press, beginning with her romance with childhood friend Justin Timberlake (search). The pop star really sent the media into a frenzy when, out of nowhere, she married another childhood friend, Jason Alexander, in Las Vegas in January 2004.
The union lasted less than 55 hours; she wed Federline just eight months later, in September.
