A 14-year-old girl delivering Girl Scout cookies (search) was killed when she was struck by a drunk driver, state police said.

Lawrence Mondore (search), 50, of Syracuse, was charged with driving while intoxicated following the accident Thursday night in Skaneateles, an affluent Finger Lakes (search) village 20 miles southwest of Syracuse.

Mondore had a blood alcohol level of 0.13 percent when he was arrested, state police said. The state's DWI legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Troopers said Brandi Woods (search) of Memphis, N.Y., was with seven other Girl Scouts when she was struck about 8 p.m. while standing outside a vehicle parked on the roadside. She was pronounced dead at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

After hitting Woods, Mondore stopped his van on the shoulder of the road, troopers said. He was being held in Onondaga County Jail on $5,000 bail.
