The Bureau of Prisons statement issued just before Martha Stewart left prison early Friday:

On March 4, 2005, at 12:30 a.m., Martha Stewart was released from the Federal Prison Camp, Alderson, West Virginia, to complete the remaining portion of her sentence. Miss Stewart was sentenced in the Southern District of New York to a term of five months imprisonment for obstruction of justice, false statements; and for conspiracy to obstruct justice, make false statements, and commit perjury. Additionally, she was sentenced to a two-year term of supervised release, five months of which will be served in home confinement.

The Federal Prison Camp, Alderson, West Virginia, is a minimum security facility which houses approximately 1,050 inmates. The institution is located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, 270 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
