Eagles' Terrell Owens to Play?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Philadelphia receiver Terrell Owens (search), who has practiced fewer than half the Eagles' plays this week, was held out of a 25-minute walk-through at Alltel Stadium as a precaution Saturday, the day before the Super Bowl (search) against the New England Patriots. "We'll see how he does tomorrow," Eagles coach Andy Reid said.

The Patriots skipped their walk-through on Saturday. "It's been two weeks since our last game," said coach Bill Belichick, who has bypassed the final walk-through before several games late in the season. "We've pretty much hit everything we needed."

Owens has said he will play in Sunday's Super Bowl even though his doctor refused to clear him following surgery to implant two screws and a plate in his right leg. However, Reid said Friday that he might not start.

Asked Saturday if Owens had any extra soreness, the coach said, "Not necessarily. No."

Defensive end Jevon Kearse (search) was fine, one day after missing practice with the flu.

"He's ready to go," Reid said.

Linebacker Mark Simoneau (search), coming off a foot injury, participated in the walk-through and moved well, according to a pool report.

Players wore sweats and shorts and no helmets while testing the Alltel field for the first time this week.

Temperatures were in the high 50s and sunny, a welcome change from the wind, cold and rain that lingered the past few days.

"The field was in good shape," Reid said. "No wet spots. It was fine."

Though there are team meetings Saturday night, the Eagles were allowed to have some family time, too.

Asked if he was doing anything special to help his players get a good night's sleep, Reid said, "No, they'll be all right. They are ready to play."

The Patriots took a bus to Alltel Stadium for photos, and many players brought cameras or camcorders. Players' families and children also joined them. Injured cornerback Ty Law got around on a motorized scooter.

Belichick posed for a picture with coordinators Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel — perhaps for posterity's sake. Weis is leaving New England to take over as head coach at Notre Dame, and Crennel is expected to be hired as the Cleveland Browns' head coach.

"It's great to be here," Belichick said. "Great to be a part of it."
