On Monday, Dan Rather (search) acknowledged what numerous Web surfers knew moments after he aired the National Guard documents: The papers are bogus.
After first claiming that this controversy was some sort of plot cooked up by "political partisans," Rather now seems to be taking responsibility. This afternoon he released a written statement, admitting that he and his producers were misled by the source of the documents.
Here's what I'd like to know: As viewers, is Rather's written admission/apology enough to satisfy you? Does it put the matter to rest? Or should CBS do what other networks have done when they were snookered -- fire the people involved in putting the story on the air?
Monday night, Dan Rather will address this controversy on the “CBS Evening News.” If you can, watch his broadcast then e-mail me with your reaction: dayside@foxnews.com
Thanks,
Linda
