Michael Phelps (search), Justin Gatlin and Carly Patterson aren't just Olympic champions -- they're also a part of a nutritious breakfast.

Phelps, Gatlin and Patterson will each be honored with their Wheaties box (search). The special-edition cereal boxes should hit shelves by mid-September.

The honor is especially meaningful to Patterson, who owns a Wheaties box from 1996 featuring the Olympic champion U.S. women's gymnastic team. Patterson became the first American woman to win the all-around gold medal since Mary Lou Retton (search) in 1984.

"Being featured on the Wheaties box is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication," Patterson said in a statement Monday. "I hope this inspires every young girl to believe in herself and always strive for her dreams."

Phelps won eight medals in Athens, including six golds. Gatlin became "The World's Fastest Man" by winning the 100 meters.
