Back in the Saddle

After one last summer vacation with my family, I'm back! Thanks to Mike Jerrick for holding down the fort. Monday night, like many of you, I'll be parked in front of the tube to listen to Sen. John McCain and Rudy Giuliani when they address the RNC (search) — after the speechifyin' is done, drop me an e-mail and tell me what grades you gave the speakers.

Tuesday, we'll use some of your e-mails on the air — plus we'll talk with Larry Gatlin (yes, of the Gatlin Brothers) and another of our so-called "Young Guns.” The Y.G.s are the up-and-comers of the Republican Party, the people who'll be power players 5-15 years from now. (We did the same at the DNC.) We choose to highlight the Y.G.s because they tend to be less scripted and more blunt than the old guard — which makes for more exciting interviews.

Also — a special interview I've been working on for several weeks: Curtis Doebbler, the American lawyer who is defending none other than... Saddam Hussein (search). I'd like to know why he wants to defend one of the most murderous despots in recent history — but I'd also like to include questions and comments from viewers. So if you want to ask Curtis something, send me an e-mail.

The address, as always, is:

It's great to be back! See you on the air tomorrow.

P.S. In case you're wondering why we don't have the usual audience in Studio D: Too many of our crew members were needed at the convention. So the show will be audience-less all week, and then next Monday we'll be back with a full audience in Studio D.

Watch "DaySide with Linda Vester" weekdays at 1 p.m. ET
