Four people were killed when a small plane crashed into the roof of a house Tuesday night, Steele County (search) Sheriff Gary Ringhofer said.

Ringhofer told the Owatonna People's Press that all four victims were on the single-engine plane. No one was injured in the house.

"The plane came in from the north and hit the house, the debris is strung out quite a ways," the sheriff told the newspaper.

The plane hit the house about a mile southeast of Owatonna (search) just before 9 p.m. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

It also was not immediately known where the plane was flying to or where it came from. The Federal Aviation Administration was on the scene.
